The Knights came into Friday's game looking to spoil  Mira Costa's chance at sharing the PCAC title, but the Spartans bested the Knights, 70-53, in the final game of the regular season. Anthony Poindexter and Kyle Anderson led the Knights with 14 points each.

The Knights erased a 12-point deficit at home against Grossmont on Wednesday night, but weren't able to complete the comeback and lost, 61-58. It was the first time in the last seven meetings that the Griffins were able to get the best of the Knights. The last loss to Grossmont came on Feb. 19, 2010.

The Knights nearly overcame a great individual performance by Miramar's Le'Sean Galbreath, who scored 56 points, but the Jets were able to pull out a 100-92 double overtime win over the Knights. The Knights had five players score in double figures including Anthony Poindexter who led with 22 points to go with seven rebounds.

The Knights were tied with Mesa in the final minute, but it was the Olympians who prevailed, 73-69, after making 4-of-5 free throws down the stretch. It was the first time in six years that the Knights had suffered a loss to Mesa. The last time came on January 13, 2007; a streak of 11 games.

The Knights, who were coming off a close 72-69 win at Grossmont on Wednesday, played their conference home-opener on Friday and earned a 69-54 victory over Imperial Valley after pulling away in the second half. Trevor English had a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds in what was the Knights' sixth win in the last seven games.

KNIGHTS WIN SADDLEBACK TOURNAMENT, ENGLISH NAMED MVP

The Knights knocked off the No. 3 Saddleback Gauchos, 69-68, in the championship game of the Bill Brummel Classic at Saddleback College. Trevor English, who finished with 22 points and four rebounds, was named MVP of the tournament.

The Knights made it to the championship game of their own Knights Invitational Tournament for the second straight year, but were bested by Mt. San Jacinto in the final, 95-89. Devyn Iglehart, who made the game-winning layup one night earlier to send SDCC to the championship game, led the Knights with 20 points and four assists. Howard Justice and Kyle Anderson each had 17 points.
