San Diego City hit 7-of-9 three-pointers in the first half and never trailed as they went into the locker room with a 42-37 lead over Cuyamaca. The Knights' lead, however, evaporated in a hurry after back-to-back three-pointers by Cuyamaca's Garrett Larch-Miller to open the second half.
The Knights fell behind, 50-47, but Thomas and Scott led a 16-2 surge to give City a 63-52 lead with 11:05 left in the game.
Cuyamaca's Shane Dillon scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to help his team get back in the game. The Coyotes cut the Knights' lead to 72-68 with 5:12 remaining, but that would be as close as they would get. The Knights held Cuyamaca scoreless the rest of the game and went on to win, 80-78.
Caleb Singleton scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point territory. Christian Jones added 10 points off the bench for the Knights.
The Knights' next game is on Wednesday, January 15 at San Diego Mesa.
