San Diego City's women's tennis team clinched a third consecutive Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship with Thursday's 6-3 victory over Grossmont while also extending its PCAC win streak to 22.
The Knights lost one match in 2024, went undefeated in 2025, and are now one win away from going undefeated once again.
They are 13-6 overall and 9-0 in the PCAC with the final match scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at College of the Desert.
The 13 wins ties for the second-most in a season under head coach Jami Yonekura-Jones. The highest win total during her tenure came in 2018 when the Knights won 14.
"I am extremely proud of my team for their hard work and sacrifices throughout this season," said Yonekura-Jones. " Winning the PCAC championship for the third time in a row would not have been possible withouth their teamwork, belief, and commitment. This season has been the culminatino of a journey that begah 14 years ago with an 0-12 season.
"There have been so many ups and downs during this time. Times when winning the PCAC was unimaginable, but with the unwavering support of San Diego City College President Dr. Ricky Shabazz, my Athletic Director Aaron Detty, my assistant coach Brandon Lupian, and all of our staff at City, we have been able to accomplish a goal that was once out of reach.
"I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to be the head women's tennis coach at San Diego City College. Go Knights!"
