City Tied For 1st Place After 3rd Straight Win

The San Diego City women's tennis team won its third consecutive match on Thursday, 7-2, over Southwestern to improve to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in the PCAC. The Knights are now tied for first place in the conference with two PCAC matches remaining.

City won two of the three doubles match, including an 8-0 win by Lucia Farmer and Charlee FitzMaurice at the No. 2 spot. The No. 1 team of Sinaia Haskal and Faith Satrya won by default and the No. 3 duo of Madeleine Satrya and Arleen Torres fell, 8-4.

Although she did not play in doubles, Haskal had a strong perfomance in No. 1 singles with a 6-0 and 6-2 win over Southwestern's Anna Illusorio. Farmer got her second win of the day by defeating Neddah Nourbaksh, 6-1 and 6-0, in No. 2 singles.

Faith Satrya was dominant in her singles match as she put together a 6-0 and 6-0 win over Evelyn Potter at the No. 3 spot in the ladder.

FitzMaurice earned a 6-2 and 6-1 victory over Dyna Monsalud at the No. 4 position, and Madeleine Satrya got past Lina Castaneda, 6-2 and 6-4 in No. 5 singles. 

It was nearly a clean sweep for the Knights in singles, but Pilar Craft was edged out, 6-7, 6-4, and 6-10 at the No. 6 spot. 

The Knights have two non-conference home matches coming up against Rio Hondo on March 21 and L.A. Mission on March 23, both at 2 p.m. 

They will then play Grossmont at home on March 28 in a match that will likely decide the conference championship. In the previous meeting at Grossmont on March 2, the Griffins defeated City, 6-3.
