It looked as though the Knights were going to cruise to a second straight victory after taking a 3-0 halftime lead, but Palomar scored three in the second half and the Knights had to settle for a 3-3 home draw.
City's leading goal scorer Melissa Valadez didn't take long to put her mark on the game by scoring in the third minute to give the Knights the 1-0 lead.
Valadez struck again in the 27th minute with a shot from 25 yards out after taking a short corner pass from Sylvia Rojas. It was Valadez' 10th goal of the year and her third multiple-goal game. Her 10 goals is 10th best in the state.
The Knights took what seemed to be a commanding 3-0 lead with a goal from Rojas, her seventh, just before the halftime whistle.
Unfortunately for the Knights, the 3-goal lead would not be enough. Palomar would respond with goals in the 58th, 70th, and 80th minutes to tie the game.
City had a couple late chances, but a free kick by Valadez went a few feet too high and a shot by Briana Gonzalez in the 90th was saved.
The Knights now stand at 5-5-2 overall and remain at 2-3 in the PCAC South.
